After the trek, take some time to reflect on this extraordinary encounter and celebrate the conservation efforts that have made it possible. Later, proceed for unique Cultural Experience with the Batwa. These were the original inhabitants inhabitants of the Impenetrable Forest before it was established as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day 8: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – Evening to Night game drive

Today upon waking up, enjoy your mouth-watering breakfast while overlooking the lush forests of Bwindi. Thereafter, check out and start your journey to Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo is one of the smallest national parks found in Uganda but dearly rewarding. The park is endowed with unique vegetation cover which is not found anywhere else. While at Mburo, you will enjoy a Night game drive experience. This drive will bring you closer to those nocturnal wildlife for example porcupines, civets, jackals, leopards, spotted hyenas and many others. Lake Mburo National Park is one of Uganda’s most accessible and ecologically diverse national parks. Located about 240 kilometers west of Kampala and just 30 kilometers east of Mbarara, it’s the country’s smallest savanna park, covering about 260 square kilometers. Despite its size, it boasts a rich mix of habitats and wildlife, making it a rewarding stop for nature enthusiasts.

The park is part of a larger wetland system linked by five lakes, including Lake Mburo itself, offering a serene and lush landscape of rolling hills, open savanna, acacia woodland, wetlands, and rocky outcrops. The wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park is remarkably varied. It is one of the few parks in Uganda where you can find Burchell’s zebras, and it has the country’s only significant population of impalas. Other frequently seen animals include elands, topis, buffalo, waterbuck, warthogs, and hippos. Though lions and elephants are absent, leopards, hyenas, and various small carnivores are present and sometimes spotted, especially on night game drives. The park also supports over 300 bird species, including notable ones like the shoebill stork, African finfoot, and the red-faced barbet, making it a haven for birdwatchers.
