Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport for 7 Days Wildlife and Primates Safari

Day 2: Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park – Visit Bigodi Wetland and Community

After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up for the scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, often dubbed the “Primate Capital of the World” due to its incredible concentration of chimpanzees and other primate species. The journey, approximately 5–6 hours, will take you through Uganda’s picturesque countryside: endless rolling hills, tea plantations, banana farms, and small rural villages where friendly children wave as you pass. Upon arrival in the Fort Portal region, nestled against the backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains, you’ll continue to the edge of Kibale Forest.

In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run eco-tourism project known for its rich biodiversity and beautiful scenery. As you walk along the raised boardwalks and trails, you’ll have the chance to spot over 200 species of birds, including the iconic Great Blue Turaco, as well as primates such as red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Bigodi is also a cultural gem, offering insight into the local community’s way of life. Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Evening Game Drive

After an early breakfast on your day 3 of the 7 Days Wildlife and Primates Safari, you’ll head to the Kibale Forest visitor center for a briefing before your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Led by an experienced ranger, you’ll venture into the dense tropical forest in search of our closest living relatives. Along the way, your guide will point out various plant species, bird calls, and animal signs. Once you locate a chimpanzee troop, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing their behavior, watching them swing through the trees, groom each other, and communicate with fascinating vocalizations. This intimate encounter with wild chimpanzees is deeply moving and educational.

After lunch and a brief rest, you’ll set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most famous and diverse parks. The drive takes about 3 hours and offers beautiful views of crater lakes and the rugged foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon entering the park, you’ll enjoy your first evening game drive through the Kasenyi plains—a great time to see wildlife as the sun sets. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, hyenas, and even lions beginning their nocturnal hunts. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth Morning Game Drive – Kazinga Channel Boat Safari – Evening Game Drive Safari

Start your day with a steaming cup of Ugandan coffee before heading out on an exhilarating morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth’s savannah plains. This is the best time to spot predators on the move. You’ll explore the Kasenyi sector, a prime game viewing area where large herds of Uganda kob attract lion prides. Also expect sightings of buffalo, warthogs, elephants, and maybe even the elusive leopard if luck is on your side. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy the vibrant flocks that include crested cranes, lapwings, and bee-eaters.

Return to the lodge for lunch, then in the afternoon, embark on a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometer waterway that links Lake Edward and Lake George. This relaxing cruise is an incredible way to observe animals up close. Watch as hippos grunt and play in the water, crocodiles sunbathe on the banks, elephants come down to drink, and over 600 species of birds decorate the skies and reeds. The Kazinga Channel is one of the most wildlife-rich aquatic environments in Africa, offering amazing photography opportunities. Day 5: Kasenyi Morning Game Drive – Ishasha Sector for Tree-Climbing Lions – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Early breakfast, Begin day 5 of the 7 Days Wildlife and Primates Safari with a final morning game drive in the Kasenyi region, offering another chance to see predators and grazing herbivores in action. Afterward, you’ll journey southward through the park’s lesser-known Ishasha Sector, famous for its unique population of tree-climbing lions, a rare phenomenon found only in two places in Africa. Unlike other lions, the ones in Ishasha spend much of their time lounging on the branches of fig and acacia trees, often to escape ground heat or avoid insects. With luck, you’ll spot them draped lazily across tree limbs, spotting the preys to come for next.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild, enjoy the meal as you also appreciating the beauty of the western country side of Uganda before continuing your drive through changing landscapes into the dense rainforests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas divided into four sectors namely Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma. Arrive at your lodge tucked deep within the forest just in time for a hearty dinner and a briefing on the next day’s highly anticipated trek.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Drive to Lake Bunyonyi for Scenic Relaxation

Rise early for breakfast and what is truly the pinnacle of your Uganda safari, a close encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and donts of gorilla trekking including the distance to be kept, how to behave incase a silverback charges, then be grouped with fellow trekkers making a group of eight and assigned a ranger guide. Trekking through the thick jungles of Bwindi, you’ll navigate steep trails, tangled vines, and cool misty undergrowth.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location, but every step is worth the effort. When you finally meet the gorillas, the moment is nothing short of magical. For one unforgettable hour, you’ll stand quietly in the presence of these gentle giants, watching them feed, play, and interact. It’s a deeply emotional and humbling experience that stays with you forever keeping Uganda at heart.

After your trek, you’ll receive a certificate as a memento of this rare wildlife encounter. In the afternoon, you’ll begin a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi, often referred to as “The Switzerland of Africa” due to its terraced hills and mist-covered islands. The lake is dotted with over 29 small islands and is safe for swimming though deep, thanks to its bilharzia-free waters. Arrive in time for dinner and settle into your lakeside lodge, where tranquility and beauty wrap you in a perfect ending to the day.

Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi Boat Ride – Transfer to Entebbe for Departure

As you end your 7 Days Wildlife and Primates Safari, wake up to the serene sounds of birds and water. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the lake, exploring some of its most iconic islands. For example the Punishment Island, where a dark but fascinating cultural story awaits. As your boat glides across the mirror-like waters, soak in the awe-inspiring scenery of terraced hills and vibrant birdlife. This is a peaceful counterpoint to the previous days of trekking and game drives. After the boat tour, begin your journey back to Entebbe, with several scenic stopovers. For example for lunch, photography, stretching, and also local crafts shopping.

The drive is long (approximately 7–8 hours), but the landscapes are captivating—from lush highlands to bustling roadside towns. Depending on your flight schedule, you’ll either be dropped off directly at Entebbe International Airport for your onward journey. OR checked into a nearby guesthouse for an overnight stay if flying the next day.
