Deep in the jungle 4 Day Birding Safari in Bwindi. However, this tour offers a unique adventure into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most biodiverse places.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

You will start your 4 Day Birding Safari in Bwindi by leaving either Entebbe or Kampala on a scenic drive to the Buhoma Sector of Bwindi. You’ll break up the drive with stops along the Equator for a few photos, plus some birding for such species as Crested Francolin, Lilac-breasted Roller and Grey Crowned Crane. During your travels, you’ll stop to bird-watch, hoping to find birds such as the lesser Blue-eared starling, Augur Buzzard and Black-headed Gonelek. Upon arrival in buhoma , you’ll check-in at you and enjoy some evening near the lodge.

 

Day 2: Birding to Buhoma Waterfall Trail and River Ivy Trail

Day 2 of your safari is dedicated to exploring the Buhoma Sector, where you’ll embark on early morning birding walks along the Buhoma Waterfall Trail and the River Ivy Trail. This region is home to a stunning array of bird species, including the highly sought-after African Green Broadbill, White-bellied Robin-Chat, Dwarf Honeyguide, and Black-faced Warbler. After a morning of intense birding, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch and then continue birding along the Bwindi edge trails, where you may spot species like the Dusky Twin spot, Fine-banded Woodpecker, and Olive Sunbird. As the day comes to a close, you’ll return to the lodge, enjoying dinner and optional night birding for species like the Rwenzori Nightjar.

 

Day 3: Birding in Ruhija – Mubwindi Swamp

On day three, you’ll transfer to the Ruhija Sector, a 2-hour drive that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Along the way, you’ll spot birds like the Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Regal Sunbird, and Chestnut-throated Apalis. Upon arrival, you’ll hike to Mubwindi Swamp, a prime birding spot that’s home to rare Albertine Rift endemics like Grauer’s Rush Warbler, African Green Broadbill, Rwenzori Batis, and Stripe-breasted Tit. After a picnic lunch at the swamp, you’ll continue birding as you return to the vehicle, taking in the breathtaking scenery and spotting more bird species. As the day comes to a close, you’ll return to Buhoma or stay in Ruhija, enjoying dinner and relaxation at the lodge.

 

Day 4: Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport for your Departure flight

Your final day of the 4 Day Birding Safari in Bwindi begins with an amazing breakfast before departing for Entebbe. Along the way, you’ll make birding stops, visiting Mpanga Forest in search of species like the Great Blue Turaco, African Pied Hornbill, and Red-headed Malimbe. As you return to Entebbe, you’ll reflect on the incredible birding experiences and memories you’ve made during your 4 Day Birding Safari in Bwindi adventure.
