Day 1: Pick up from Kigali International Airport for your 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda

Upon arrival for your 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda, you will be picked up from the airport by our English-speaking guide from Vibrant Holiday Safaris. He will welcome you and brief you about your safari. You will thereafter transfer to your booked hotel for relaxation from the jetlag, as you adjust to the time difference and surrounding.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour

After a relaxed breakfast, you will head into the capital of Rwanda, Kigali for a city tour. Expect an excursion to places like the Genocide Memorial site, which is a place of remembrance and learning dedicated to the victims of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. You will also visit the local markets and crafts markets. After, get back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda

After breakfast on day 3 of the 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda,  you will hit the road for a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes National Park lies in Northwestern Rwanda. It borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. You will arrive at the booked accommodation and decide to either take rest, awaiting next day’s activity or consider some activity like visiting the cultural village to gain some insight of the traditional Rwanda. Otherwise, relax at your lodge.

Day 4: Bisoke Mountain Hike

If you love hiking and beautiful scenery, Mount Bisoke is just what you have been looking for. Today, you will have breakfast, collect your packed lunch and proceed to the starting point (Kinigi). You will be briefed and thereafter head out with the assigned ranger-guide to hike Mount Bisoke (3,711 meters above sea level). Ascend for 4-5 hours and the descent time is about 3 hours. At the summit, you will be rewarded with the sight of a beautiful crater lake. Return to the accommodation and get some rest.

Day 5:  Golden Monkey Trekking and cross to Uganda, 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda

The Golden monkey trekking takes place in Volcanoes National Park and at the same time (07h00) as the gorilla trekking. These rare monkey species are also listed as endangered. Volcanoes NP has habituated groups that are available for trekking by visitors. The exercise starts with a short briefing from the park ranger at the RDB office. Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the golden monkeys through the rainforest of the Volcanoes National Park. Return to the accommodation for some rest and lunch. After lunch, drive to the Cyanika border post and cross the border into Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 6: Bwindi waterfalls trail and Buhoma community experience

Today on day 6 of your 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda, you will drive off to Buhoma sector of Bwindi. Once there, we shall proceed for the Forest Walk along the waterfall trail. This is the perfect way to experience the depth of this “impenetrable” forest. Starting from Buhoma, at the north gate, Munyaga river trail gets you to some beautiful pristine waterfalls, a truly rewarding experience. Along the way you will encounter some flora and fauna, black and white colobus monkeys, sometimes blue monkeys among others. Return to the accommodation for lunch and some rest before moving out to encounter the community. This encounter involves cultural dances from the local people of the community and also participating in some activities e.g. traditional cooking, weaving among others. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation

After your very relaxed breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and hit the road for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. You will get to Lake Bunyonyi, in the afternoon right on time for lunch, check into your lodge and have lunch. You will spend your evening relaxing from the strenuous waterfalls trek in Bwindi.

Day 8: Relaxation and Canoeing Experience, 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda

You will have a relaxed breakfast on day 8 of the 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda, while you enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is surrounded by 29 islands and hills, which makes its views undeniably unique. After lunch, you will take part in the canoe boat experience where you will get closer to these islands. The canoe experience takes about 2 hours.

This 5 hour’s journey will get you arriving to Queen Elizabeth National in time for lunch.  Check into your lodge, have lunch and head out for an afternoon game drive. Be on the look for leopards, lions and so much more. After, go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise, 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda

Day 10 of the 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda will start with a delicious breakfast. Then, you will proceed for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Be on the look for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants plus lions, leopards (though hard to spot) among others. Return to the accommodation for some rest time and lunch. After lunch, you will go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. During the safari, the sight of wildlife including giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others will fascinate you. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water shores.

Day 11: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and evening game drive

After breakfast, we shall proceed for the Chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura gorge. The gorge is home to habituated Chimpanzees plus other primates including baboons, monkeys and also bird species. Today, you will spend the early part of the day tracking chimpanzees here.  You will then check out of your lodge for a transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Have some rest and then head out for an evening game drive. Be on the look for zebras, giraffes, antelopes and so much more. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Morning walking safari and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your Departure flight

Enjoy your early breakfast on the final day of the 12 Days African Safari Rwanda Uganda. And then proceed for a unique morning bushwalk in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. On this guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter at close range zebras, giraffes, elands, Topi and other antelopes, and Cape buffaloes among others. Take the trail to the top of the hills to see Lake Mburo and beyond. Thereafter, return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road for a transfer back to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.

    Itinerary

    Day 1 Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland

    We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

    Day 2Zürich–Biel/Bienne–Neuchâtel–Geneva

    Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

    Day 3Enchanting Engelberg

    Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.

    Day 4Interlaken Area. Excursion to The Jungfrau Massif

    An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Globus Local Favorite At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the ALPINE SENSATION, THE PANORAMA 360° EXPERIENCE, and the ICE PALACE. Also receive your JUNGFRAU PASSPORT as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

    Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

    It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
