Restaurant, Bar & Lounge
The lodge is restricted to only clients, as such, the main building offers guests a sense of privacy. Due to its exceptionally quiet state, you will hear sounds of the animals in the forest, sometimes; you will see monkeys swinging back and forth on the branches of trees in the surrounding. At night, you will hear a symphony of birds.
Like the other units of the lodge, the main building doesn’t have air conditioners as it is completely unnecessary—due to the lodges location upon a highland where temperature is perfect al year 18-20 ºC.
Spa & Massage Treats
The IK spa isn’t a place you just dip in for a weekend, it is about total immersion and turning your lifestyle around in the purest yet most polished surroundings. Its fully fledged and offers steam, sauna and massage treats that are focused on emotional, physical, spiritual and mental therapy. You will certainly need a dose of all these after a long day’s adventure in Bwindi, especially gorilla trekking. That is why our spa is staffed with talented therapists and masseurs who are more than a match for the lodge’s impressive natural surroundings.
The Views
The lodge occupies the axis of Nkuringo, a gently sloping hill that soars at cloud level, sitting at 2,100meters above sea level. That is why many who have been here remember it as the highest vantage point in the Southern wing of Bwindi. The horizon, as seen from the lodge, hovers over the park’s forest canopy, creating a surprising blend of a blue & green hued skyline. The cherry on the cake is the view of Virunga’s jagged mountain ranges that straddle Uganda’s borders with Congo and Rwanda.
Blend With The Community
COMMUNITY
Most of our lodge’s staff are sourced from the communities living around the park as a way of providing alternative income to locals. The main objective is to reduce the dependence of locals wildlife trade. If you wish to support locals from the neighboring communities, the gift shop here gives you the perfect opportunity to buy locally crafted souvenirs and mementos for your loved ones. All products are fair trade, ethically sourced, and support various community based initiatives.
