Gorilla habituation refers to the process by which gorillas are trained to be around people. The habituation process usually takes two to three years. During this period, researchers visit these gorillas daily and get to spend more time with them learning about their behaviour. As time goes by, gorillas get used to the presence of humans. After the habituation process, humans are no longer a threat to the gorillas and vice versa. The gorillas are also given names after the habituation process.

How To Book Gorilla Habituation Permits.

Gorilla habituation permits have to be booked 2-3 months prier to the travel dates. This is advisable to avoid last minute disappointments since Uganda Wildlife Authority only issues a maximum of 4 gorilla habituation permits per gorilla family a day.

The habituation permits cost 1500$ per person and a maximum of 4 people are allowed to spend 4 hours with a gorilla family per day.
