The park is found in the southwestern part of Rwanda proving scenic views of the garden farms especially the plantation farms that are provided by the local people’s gardens of tea which is very interesting. Nyungwe forest is one of the few forests that have remained standing on the African continent. The forest habits of the chimpanzees can be seen during your safaris and then other primates such as the colobus monkeys and the baboons as well as the mangabey.

Based on the interests that you have, you can as well engage in other activities after the chimpanzee tracking such as hiking to the waterfalls, and tracking monkeys, especially the colobus monkeys. However, this 3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Safari is designed specifically for chimpanzee tracking and the canopy walks safari in Rwanda but if time allows especially on the last day of your trip then you can decide to add one of these activities before leaving for Kigali Rwanda.

Detailed safari itinerary

Day 1:  Start your 3 Days with Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy walk Safaris

On this day, you will leave from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park very early in the morning and you will be able to move in time to make a stopover at the ethnographic museum which is found at the Huye. The Ethnographic Museum is a very crucial and important Rwanda National Museum showing the cultural and historical features of Rwanda. You will be able to see how Rwanda as a country has come from far through the materials in the museum and the professional guides that will help you to take you through all the experience and the journey to the Nyungwe Forest. Then later, you will have lunch after the experience before proceeding on your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The roads heading to Nyungwe forest national Park are well built and constructed giving you a wonderful view of the beautiful thousand hills, you will be able to check into your lodge where you will stay in close proximity to the National Park and relax in the evening while you get ready to take part in the chimpanzee trekking the next day and the journey will take you five hours from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 2: Early morning Chimpanzee tracking and evening Canopy Walk

Nyungwe forest national park in southwestern Rwanda is known for being the home to chimpanzees. Tracking chimpanzees in this park means that visitors will hike deep into the forest to search for the chimpanzees and enjoy the nature-related attractions found within the Forest. This experience begins early in the morning and you will leave your lodge in the morning with a packed breakfast or snacks unless you can wake up early to have breakfast at the lodge. But you’re expected to be at the briefing place as early as 5.30 am in the morning where you will be able to get information about the chimpanzee trekking and how best you will be able to track the chimpanzees successfully in the Nyungwe Forest. Nyungwe Forest National Park boasts over 13 species of primates with chimpanzees being the major ones and others including the vervet monkeys, and mangabey among others. There are two trails for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park and these include the Cyamudomgo chimpanzee trekking sector trail and the Uwika trail and therefore the guide from the park will lead you to one of these trailheads.

 After chimpanzee trekking which will last for about 6 hours depending on how far you have allocated them, you will return to the lodge and have lunch before your being transferred to Uwinka to start the wonderful activity of canopy walk before returning to the lodge

Day 3: End of the 3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Safaris

Yes, today after having your relaxed breakfast, together with your driver, you will embark on the journey back to Kigali to end your 3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Safaris. However, before leaving for Kigali you can as well opt to do  some other activities and including tracking monkeys before embarking on your journey back to Kigali this marks the end of the 3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk Safaris
